The inaugural My Future 4.0 – Next Level Digital Skills & Careers Summit was held at the Ticketpro Dome in North Riding from 15–18 May 2019 and was a resounding success. Although there are many career expo’s out there, we realized there was a need to show the youth what their future will look like focusing on the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution on current careers and future jobs. Thought leading companies were able to show the changes in their industries and what skills would be required in the future, and tertiary institutions and training organisations could showcase their courses and show people how, and where, they could go to acquire the skills they need to succeed.

​The summit was aimed at pupils, students, teachers, and people already employed wanting to understand how they should up-skill themselves to remain relevant and competitive in this ever-changing work environment. 65% of jobs that will be available in 10 years’ time, do not exist today, and industry needs to highlight the way forward for this workforce to understand what current and future requirements will be. Visitors spent 90 minutes in the Theatre of Tomorrow experiencing the vision and changes across multiple industries, interacted with companies on the Techxpo floor sharing their innovation and future ideas, were able to listen to informative talks by 4th Industrial Revolution influencers, and were guided by the educational institutions present. An Educators Conference lead by industry specialists focused on the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the classroom.

2020 will see the Summit transformed into virtuoCity, a city of the future where we are highlighting the interconnectivity of industries and the impact of technology on all future skills and careers. We are looking forward to hosting another successful Educators Conference in 2020, covering a wide range of topics directly impacting teaching and the classroom.
